Tips To Extend The Life Of Your Wiper Blades

Let’s be real, there are times that windshield wipers can be down right rude! They squeak and streak in spite of your best efforts to stay on top of your regular wiper maintenance schedule. You turn them on, they start chattering across the windshield leaving lines that now make your vision even worse! How rude! But, don’t worry, we’ve got a few tips that will help to extend the life of your Scrubblades. And, with a little love, will keep them running smoothly.

1. Time For a Wash.

When giving your metal baby a wash, don’t forget to show your Scrubblades some love. Spray some rubbing alcohol on a cloth, be sure to saturate the cloth pretty well, and wipe down the rubber on your blades. Cleaning your wipers is important; road debris, dirt and rocks can become lodged between the blades. This grime will cause your blades to streak across the windshield. Rubbing alcohol should eliminate any annoying noises or streaking, returning your Scrubblades back to optimal performance.

2. Check Your Fluid.

Picture this: You’re out driving on a nice, warm, and sunny afternoon – windows down, enjoying life. When, SPLAT! a bug smacks your windshield. You think to yourself, “no problem, I will use my washer fluid to clean this mess.” Only, to your own disappointment, your washer reservoir is empty and now your blades are squeaking and streaking across your windshield, creating wear on the wiper blade. Don’t be THAT guy, remember to check your reservoir. If its empty, no problem. We’ve got you covered! Just drop in one of Scrubblade’s Washer Tablets, add some water and you’re good to go; quick and easy!

3. Turn Off Your Wipers.

We’ve all been there driving and seen that one driver who hasn’t figured out that rain stopped long ago. His wipers going maniacally fast, back and forth, across the windshield. That my friends will bring a quick death to your premium blades. When your blades are wiping across a dry windshield, friction is created. this will bring unnecessary wear to your Scrubblades. Wiper blades are meant to wipe across a slick surface, not a dry, abrasive one.

4. Park In The Shade.

Yup, its that simple, kind of. wherever you go this summer time, find a shady spot and park it there! The heat and the sun will cause the rubber on your wiper blades to dry up, which will cause them to crack. Not only will your wiper blades thank you for not parking in direct sun light, so will your bum when you sit down on your seat.

5. Time For A Change.

If all else fails, it may be time for a new set of Scrubblades. It is usually advised that you change your wiper blades every 6 months, depending on the climate you live in. With that being said, people have driven with a set of Scrubblades on their vehicle for a year or longer. If you would like to take the challenge, go for it. Just remember to take care of your wiper blades and you may see a longer life out of them.
